Pendrell Hall in Staffordshire - one of the training venues used by Authentica

Staff training makes a vital contribution to changing attitudes, developing skills, setting standards and generating ideas.  Authentica training is delivered by trainers who have also worked as consultants to a wide range of manufacturing and service industries.  The wealth of experience they have accumulated, together with an accomplished style of delivery, ensures that they provide targeted and effective training.  Authentica trainers have helped countless companies develop management systems, motivate staff and bring about culture change.  Course content is reviewed and adapted frequently, to meet the ever-changing requirements of a competitive manufacturing and servicing environment.  The style of delivery is consistently excellent.

Authentica Technical Courses

‘Basic’ Level

‘Everyday Hygiene’ – 2 to 3 hours according to requirements*

The Authentica ‘Every-Day Hygiene’ is a basic hygiene course designed to precisely meet the needs of ‘hygiene sensitive’ industries such as food packaging manufacture, logistics, and laundries.  In order to raise commitment throughout an organisation, the course is often attended by managers, sales personnel and office-based staff, together with production staff.    The course concludes with a multiple-choice test, and a certificate can be issued to participants.

‘Intermediate’ Level

Hygiene in Practice- 2 days*

A two-day certificated course, the Authentica Hygiene in Practice course is matched to the needs of supervisors and team leaders (and equivalent).  It is an interactive, practical course run on-site for a minimum of six and a maximum of twelve. Course content is flexible, and timing of delivery can be matched to meet the needs of individual companies and their staff.

Supervising for Assured Hygiene- 1 day*

A highly interactive one-day course designed to equip team leaders (and others with day-to-day responsibility for overseeing staff) as role models and mentors in hygiene-sensitive production environments.  The course deals with the essentials of hygiene, and how these can be communicated.  Emphasis is placed on meeting company and customer expectations, making hygiene a 'built in' rather than 'added on' issue.

‘Advanced’ Level

Hygiene Management Skills – 3.5 days

This Authentica course imparts broadly based practical knowledge of the application of hygiene and consumer safety controls as part of a management system.  Perhaps more importantly, it develops confidence in that knowledge.  It is held at a number of venues around the UK and can also be provided at client premises, or other choice of venue, by arrangement.  The course is of particular benefit to managers developing or responsible for operating, management systems to comply with the requirements of the BRC/IoP Packaging Standard or the BRC Global Standard - Consumer Products.  It is an examined and certificated course that enjoys wide recognition and acceptance.  For current information click here

Authentica Personal Development Training Courses

Personal development is a continual process throughout an individual’s working life.  A person’s full potential can only be realised in a working environment that nurtures and encourages self-improvement.  Training that is directed towards encouraging this has to be both challenging and sympathetic.  This can be achieved best by trainers with the requisite interpersonal skills, an intuitive approach, and long experience.  Authentica courses are offered on this basis, for delivery to the most demanding and progressive of companies.

Interpersonal Skills

BRC Certification; ‘A briefing for sales people’ – 1 day*

If your company has achieved, or is about to achieve, certification to one of the BRC Standards then you can maximise the commercial benefits by ensuring that your sales people properly understand the relevant standard, and the customer benefits it brings.  This short course adds credibility to your company’s image by ensuring that your message about BRC Certification is both accurate and realistic.  It is relevant for staff in contact with clients and prospects by telephone, or ‘on the road’.

Confidence Building for Presentations - 2 days*

For staff whose job involves, or is likely to involve, making presentations this is a concise, practise-based course.  It is suitable both for those new to making presentations, and for those with some experience. The course encourages trainees to develop a style of presentation to match their own individual personality, skills and abilities.  Normally it is provided as a bespoke course for groups of staff from one employer.

Facilitating Change – 2 days*

Many courses dealing with change are directed towards helping the participant adjust to the dynamics of working life.  This Authentica course offers a different approach, placing emphases on building skills in gaining acceptance of change.  Whilst change is generally triggered by senior management, its implementation is often left to those responsible for day-to-day operations.  This requires commitment, understanding and, above all, effective communication.  The course is normally company-specific.  The nature of any change or changes contemplated is taken into account when individual courses are prepared.  Issues can include the introduction of new working rules (for example hygiene controls), re-deployment and task changes, and revised organisational arrangements.

The Essentials

a series of ½ day of personal development events from Authentica

Authentica has created a series of 3-hour personal development events that deal with a range of essential management skills ‘in a nutshell’.  The first of these will become available shortly -

“The Essentials of Staff Motivation”

If your job involves managing and motivating others, this event can help you.  With a minimum of theory, but lots of practical and workable solutions, the Authentica ‘Essentials’ philosophy ensures that there is something for managers from all levels and experience.

“The Essentials of Handling Difficult Behaviour”

Difficult behaviour can take many forms.  Dealing with it requires confidence in your ability to retain control and find a credible resolution.  This topic is often dealt with at the psychological level.  Authentica ‘Essentials’ deals with what you should actually do about it.

Practical Skills

Report Writing – 1 day

Effective report writing demands the adoption of a simple literary style, and a structured approach.  This course is an introduction to the topic, but can be valuable to more experienced report-writers who are interested in reviewing their technique.  Participants must have some familiarity with word processing applications (computers are available for participants at the course venue).  The course includes guidance on how word processing software can assist with layout, style and grammar.

Inspection and Auditing - 2 days*

This certificated course, which is appropriate for supervisors and managers, is intended as preparation for both internal and external (supplier) inspections and audits.  It addresses both practical and theoretical issues.  Topics include; planning an inspection or audit, the structured approach, recording and reporting, and effective follow-up.  The practical nature of this course makes on-site activities essential, and a suitable venue must be available.  There is an optional one-hour examination.

Note -

Courses marked with * are normally held as ‘closed’ courses for an individual company or group of companies, in a suitable training room on site or a venue of the client’s choice.  Other courses are held from time to time according to demand; please contact us for latest dates.
